SUPPORT
From cable
to camera view.
Start with the USB setup below. If you need help, share your camera model, firmware, phone/tablet, Android version and cable type.
Which phone or tablet can I use?
The current Android build requires Android 13 or newer, USB host support and OpenGL ES 3.0. Cable, power delivery and manufacturer behavior can affect compatibility. Not every phone or tablet has been tested.
How do I connect a camera?
Use a data-capable USB cable. Set the camera to its remote/PTP USB mode, open MIRORIG and connect it. Approve Android USB access if prompted. Close other camera remote apps so they release the camera first.
Do I need to enable OTG compatibility?
Direct USB-C to USB-C connections may work without an extra setting. Some adapters and phones require OTG or USB host mode in system settings. Android does not provide a universal public switch that an ordinary app can enable on every device.
Can MIRORIG accept the USB permission dialog for me?
Android controls USB access permission. MIRORIG reconnects when permission is available, but cannot bypass a system consent dialog. You may be able to select MIRORIG as the default app for a camera in Android’s prompt.
Why can’t I change a particular camera setting?
MIRORIG uses the controls and allowed values exposed over USB. Some bodies, including the tested Sony A7 III setup, keep codec, recording resolution and frame rate on the camera itself. A specification in a camera profile does not make that setting remotely writable.
Does the monitor crop my camera image?
The main preview fits the complete camera-supplied live image without changing its aspect ratio. Space around the image is used for monitoring controls. The camera itself determines the live-view feed’s framing and resolution.
What happens when I switch to another app?
The updated connection policy releases an idle camera in the background and reconnects when you return. An active or unconfirmed recording transition retains the connection so an app switch does not deliberately interrupt it. Physical behavior is still being validated.
Does it use Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, NFC or QR pairing?
The current Android product uses USB only. Wireless camera pairing and QR setup are not part of this release.
Is MIRORIG a subscription?
A one-time paid Android release is planned. Launch price, availability and the official store link have not been announced. No payment is required to join the tester list.
Can I test on an iPhone or iPad?
You can join the iOS interest list. There is no available iOS build, TestFlight invitation or promised release date yet. Android USB behavior does not establish iOS camera support.
Let’s get the details.
